The In-Service Training and Bootcamp Committee of the University Information Technology Services (UITS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has organised a two-week intensive data analytics bootcamp tailored for accountants, auditors, and finance professionals.
The initiative aimed to equip participants with essential data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel. The training was specifically designed for beginners seeking to understand the fundamentals of data analytics in a practical and applicable manner.

Mr. Emmanuel Mfum-Mensah, a Systems Analyst at UITS and the Lead Facilitator of the training, covered topics including Introduction to Data Analysis, MS Excel Essentials, and Data Analysis with MS Excel, among others.

Speaking at the closing session, Mr. Abubakari Yahaya, Chairman of the Committee, emphasized the relevance of the training in today’s data-driven economy.
“This is a beginner-level training, and our aim is to enable participants to appreciate the course and apply the knowledge gained in gathering and analyzing data,” he noted.
Participants lauded the initiative for its practical focus and relevance to their professional roles. Mr. Evans Owusu Apau, an accountant at University Press, Kumasi (UPK), described the bootcamp as transformative.
“This training has opened my mind as a finance person. Now I can better analyze financial data to help inform management decision-making processes,” he said.
Miss Anita Mensah, a freelance professional based in Kumasi, also shared her experience.
“Participating in this bootcamp has been a great experience for me. Data analysis is the trend now, and a lot of companies are employing people with knowledge in this field. I have been equipped with data analytics skills using Microsoft Excel and the tools needed to support an organization’s database,” she remarked.
